NWR and MET forge closer ties

Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) held its first quarterly management retreat of the year at its Khorixas rest camp last weekend, along with colleagues from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. According to a press release by NWR, since Zelna Hengari took over as managing director she has made it a point for the management, resort and camp managers to meet every four months in order to review how the company has performed during that quarter. A major highlight of this retreat was the attendance of the Director of Tourism and Gaming, Sem Shikongo, along with the Etosha National Park Control Warden, Rehabeam Erckie, and his team. The Ministry of Environment and Tourism took the opportunity to highlight areas in which the two institutions can work together with the aim of increasing visitors to national parks and ensuring their sustainability. Past retreats have assisted NWR in focusing on what it needs to do in order to become profitable and become the number one tourism establishment in Namibia, according to the statement. “For any company to make it in this day and age, the employees and management need to speak the same language and have the same objectives. Through these retreats, we are able to evaluate where we are as a company and where we want to go in order to become profitable,” said Hengari. NWR Corporate Communications Manager Mufaro Nesongano added: “The public must be on the lookout for something big that will take place on April 1, 2015. During the next few months, NWR will be having massive specials as it builds up to April 1.” WINDHOEK STAFF REPORTER
