NPL rewards outstanding performers

African Stars - this year’s Namibia Premier League (NPL) champions - received a cheque of N$1 million and a trophy at an awards ceremony hosted by sponsors MTC this past Saturday night in Windhoek. Individuals winners in various categories received N$5 000 each, except for the Player of the Season, who was awarded N$30 000. Pat-Nevin Uanivi from African Stars was named the Defender of the Season and Player of the Season. Orlando Pirates Musambani Nicky scooped the Top Goal Scorer and Players Player of the Season awards. African Stars coach Woody Jacobs was named Coach of the Season. Christof Vries and Reinhold Malima were awarded Best Assistant Referee and Best Referee of the Season, respectively. Tura Magic’s Peter Shalulile, who scored the late winner against Madagascar that booked Brave Warriors a spot in the 2015 Cosafa Cup final, was named the Young Player of the Season. The NPL Chairman’s Award was won jointly by Denzil Haoseb from Black Africa and Abiatar Nambundunga from Tigers. Athiel Mbaha from African Stars received the award for Goalkeeper of the Season. Gregory Aukumeb won the Best Midfielder of the Season award, while Flamingoes and Young Chiefs football clubs were also given awards for their performance in the first division.
