Nianell and Riana Nel to perform at NAMAs

The organisers of the Namibia Music Awards (NAMAs) yesterday announced that two of Namibia’s most celebrated international artists will return home to perform at the ceremony this year. Nianell and Riana Nel, two of Namibia’s finest musical exports, will lead a stellar line-up of artists performing at this year’s awards. This was confirmed by organiser Tim Ekandjo, who said that Nianell and Riana will form part of an exciting and diverse performance line-up at the fifth anniversary of the NAMAs, which will see Namibia’s biggest stars, representative of all popular Namibian music genres, come together for one unforgettable weekend of celebration. “We are turning five years this year and we [MTC and NBC] are proud of having built an exciting and recognisable brand called the NAMAs,” Ekandjo said. Nia Nel, better known by her stage name ‘Nianell’, is a world-class platinum-selling artist, author and motivational speaker, an Honorary Ambassador of Team Namibia and proudly Namibian, but now lives in South Africa. She is an international success story, with many of her songs playlisted on radio stations worldwide. She is a gifted singer, a talented musician and songwriter. Nianell has been a trailblazer for female singer-songwriters in South Africa after achieving international success with her first album, which sold over two million copies worldwide. Nianell has consistently delivered beautiful, inspirational and successful albums. She has shared the stage with world-famous singers such as Christina Aguilera, Westlife, Diana Ross and Andre Bocelli, and has won many international awards for song writing. Her sister, Riana Nel, is also proudly Namibian and a double platinum-selling artist. Her album ‘Die Moeite Werd’ broke sales records and she has had six number one radio hits. Riana is regarded as one of the biggest female artists in South Africa today. Ekandjo has confirmed that tickets for NAMAs 2015 will be available from February 23. VIP tickets will sell for N$500 while standard tickets cost N$250. Tickets will be available nationwide from Computicket, or online from the computicket.com website. WINDHOEK STAFF REPORTER
