Ngurare encourages //Karas learners

Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare writes; Last week I addressed the learners of St. Therese Secondary School at Tses in the //Karas Region for their annual Prize Giving Ceremony and to motivate them as they prepare for their final examinations later this year. I shared with them, as I often do when addressing schools across the country, which for many of us from poor backgrounds and residing in rural areas, our first classrooms was looking after cattle. I did these duties of looking after cattle at Nkurenkuru, Katjinakatji and Kaisosi respectively. We learned lessons of survival, persistence and perseverance in the process. Poverty has remained our common feature in the process. However an avowal of poverty is not a disgrace to any person but to do nothing about it is the greatest disgrace. Education and particularly quality education is the key out of poverty. We must therefore encourage all our young people particularly those in Grades 10 and 12 to study hard, they must vow to leave all else and focus on their studies. The real boyfriends and girlfriends they must aspire to have must be their books. There is no substitute to hard work and there can be no success without hard work. To the young people in Kavango East and Kavango West and indeed of all regions, you are our sunshine, leave all else and focus on your studies. God created us all not only in His image but also with His wisdom. Good luck with your preparations for the final year examinations. From now on prepare your study calendar. Study every day. Read more every day. Sleep less every day and sunrise with your books. Prepare a dictionary of the words you do not understand. Revise with old question papers. Form study groups. You should practice to Write, Write, and Write. Enter the exam hall, with confidence when the time comes. Remember at all times, you are the diamond of Namibia and Africa, all the trials and tribulations of today, is the process of polishing you to perfection. God bless you all my young friends.
