New leadership team for Maltas
The members of Maltas aim to make a difference in their communities

The new leadership for the Maltas Club was announced at gala ceremony themed “Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Resort” at the Nust hotel school last week. The brief, yet memorable award ceremony was graced by Ashlyn de Koe, Malta’s project manager of 2016.
The Maltas Club Namibia is a student club that consists of students who are from local institutions who excel in their academic performance and who also show a keen interest in addressing issues within their communities.
The new leadership consist of Eunice Amunyela, a student at the International University of Management (IUM), who was elected president. Selma Ingo, from Unam was elected as vice president from and Johannes Shikwaambi, also from Unam, was elected as the secretary general. Ida Amuinene, a student at Nust, was elected as project manager and Tuyeni Abisalom, from IUM, was elected as community manager.
Speaking at the ceremony Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, the vice president and patron of the Maltas Club Namibia, urged the young leaders to work hard in order to make Namibians proud. “I trust that more and more youth will make use of this opportunity where they can be helpful to other Namibians within our communities. It is a blessing to give rather than to receive,” he said.
Benita Strauss, who Malta’s president in 2015, motivated student in her speech to do their best. “Work hard and be dedicated to your team because it is only as a team that you will be able to succeed,” she said.
