The Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) has thus jump started their campaign to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games and in collaboration with Fresh FM will host the tournament on 24 June on the upper level parking of Wernhil.

The secretary-general of NBF Ramah Mumba said that they are grateful for the support received from the sport commission and government. “If this support continues, the federation will ensure that basketball will be played in all regions in the next seven years” he said.

Mwiya added that he wants to give youth the opportunity nationwide to educate themselves on how 3-on-3 basketball is played and to develop the game further.

He further said that NBF's main objective through this event is to select and identify talent which will be groomed for future youth Olympic Games and to create a platform to participate at international competitions.

Young and old basketball enthusiasts in Namibia are invited to celebrate in the Olympic day and compete. The age categories competing are under -13, 15, 18, and seniors players.

The message of fair play and sportsmanship is highly encouraged and the NBF is also using 3-on-3 basketball as a vehicle to tackle social issues and create awareness.
