Nathanael to defend title in Ghana
SPORT REPORTER
Namibian boxer Sebastianus Nathanael is to defend his WBO Africa Featherweight title against John Laryea on 30 July 2021 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Ghana.
The boxer will face a strong contender who has an unbeaten record of nine fights, eight wins and one draw.
Nathanael is the more experienced fighter with 14 wins and only two losses.
Nathanael won the WBO title against Jeremiah Mhere in April 2021 and he will now defend the title for the first time.
“This is an exciting time for Sebastianus because he will be making his first title defence, and unfortunately doing so away from home.
“Ghana will be hosting this fight and we have been there before and we know what to expect,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.
“I am confident that he will win the fight and improve his WBO ranking,” he said.
The boxer, who has been preparing hard for the fight, is looking forward for producing a top performance.
“I look forward to 30 July to defend this hard-won title. I know that fighting away from home will be hard, especially in Ghana, but I am mentally and physically prepared for the challenge and make my country proud,” Nathanael said.
Nathanael is promoted by the Nestor Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy, sponsored by MTC.
