Namibia wins another global award

Namibia bagged another prestigious international award over the weekend when Omujeve Hunting Safaris was named as the Dallas Safari Club’s Outfitter of the Year for 2015. It is the first time that a Namibian trophy hunting operator has won this award. Namibia made headlines when it was severely criticised for the black rhino hunt it auctioned at the Dallas Safari Club Convention last year. The rhino hunt has since been put on hold until the United States Fish and Wildlife Service decides whether it will grant a licence to Texas hunter Corey Knowlton so he can bring his rhino’s trophy back from Namibia. According to a press release issued by Omujeve Hunting Safaris the announcement that it won Outfitter of the Year was made in Dallas, Texas where more than 3 500 exhibitors from all over the world were taking part in the Dallas Safari Club Convention, the second biggest outdoor expo in the world. The Dallas Safari Club Convention took place from January 15 to 18. According to Omujeve Hunting Safaris, the award is given annually to promote and recognise significant efforts of outfitters that provide exemplary services to enhance the hunter’s ability to equitably enjoy nature’s resources. The judging criteria include the promotion of ethical hunting and the promotion of women and the youth in the outdoors. Omujeve Hunting Safaris was established in 2007 and is owned and managed by the Kruger family - Corne, Nic and Elsadia. It owns two hunting farms and operates in seven concessions.
