Namibia ready for Africa T20 Cup
Namibia will compete in the fourth edition of the Africa T20 Cup, scheduled for 14 to 24 September at various venues in East London, South Africa.
The event is organised to kick-start the domestic cricket season. In the 2017/18 season sixteen teams took part - 13 South African provincial teams and national teams from Kenya, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
This year the participation has grown to 20 teams with the addition of two South African teams of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, along with national teams from Ghana and Nigeria.
The tournament structure is divided into four pools of five teams each; this means that ten matches will be played per pool.
“The format of the tournament has also been amended, as the previous season saw the entire preliminary round being played over one weekend.
“In this edition, to cater for increased participating teams, four venues will utilise the main oval and an auxiliary field that are in close proximity to each other,” said Cricket Namibia in a statement released on Wednesday.
Namibia is in pool C along with Border, Eastern Province, Kenya and Mpumalanga. Pool C's preliminary round will take place in East London, South Africa.
The semi-finals will take place on 23 September and the finals on 24 September.
