Naidjala achieves top 10 world rankings ambition

Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala, who is regarded as Namibia’s finest bantamweight boxer, is back in the top 10 WBO world rankings. He is now ranked 10th in the world after clinching the WBO Inter-continental title on December 5 at the Ramatex building in Windhoek. That is a realisation of the boxer’s ambition for the year and will allow him to become a contender for the world title in his weight class. “The champion can challenge you for a voluntary title defence or anybody else may challenge you and the fight will be approved by the fact that you are in the top 10 ratings,” said Nestor Tobias, who runs the MTC Sunshine Academy. The promoter added that the achievement is worthy of praise as Naidjala worked hard to get to this level. “Prince has done well for himself… He has an impressive record of 25 fights, 22 wins, one draw and only two losses and this is a good record in boxing. “He has tasted being in this position before, lost and picked himself up and only self-determination and perseverance can allow you to do that,” Tobias said. Naidjala has previous experience of fighting in a world title bout after he was selected to fight Japan’s Tomoki Kameda for the WBO world bantamweight title in 2013. Tobias recalled that Naidjala had “put up a credible and brave performance”. “The future is bright for him if he continues working hard,” he said. SPORT REPORTER
