N$8.7 million sponsorship for NAMAs 2015
The Executive Committee of the NAMAs this week announced that all 38 categories of the NAMAs had secured sponsorships.
The organisers said the benefactors of the Namibian Annual Music Awards had once again demonstrated their unwavering faith in associating their brands with the NAMAs by abundantly sponsoring prize money for the NAMAs 2015.
A whopping N$3.4 million was donated to the NAMA by 17 companies. Of this figure, N$2.5 million is set aside for artists’ cash prizes. The remaining N$800 000 consists of in-kind donations of various services and products.
MTC, the main sponsor, forked out N$5.3 million for the organisation, planning and hosting of the event. Altogether the sponsorship for the NAMA hovers around N$8.7 million. This amount doesn’t include the NBC’s production costs.
According to Tim Ekandjo, this means each and every category is guaranteed a prize thanks to the generous support of companies that believe in the promotion of local arts and music.
“As part of the winning prizes on the night the Best Female, Best Male and Album of the Year will all receive N$100 000, while all other categories have been pegged at N$30 000 each. Winners of each category will also receive a brand new Huawei P6 smartphone.”
Following the astounding sets, world-class production values and explosive performances at NAMAs 2014, the organisers aim to take the Namibian music industry to new heights on May 1 and 2. The ceremony will be hosted at the Swakopmund Indoor Sports Centre.
This year’s sponsors are: Huawei, 3G Mobile, Air Namibia, Namibia Statistic Agency, National Youth Council, Municipality of Swakopmund, John and Penny Group of Companies, Galaxy Advertising, Methealth, FNB Namibia, Directorate of Arts, NASCAM, Coke, National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), Castle Lite and Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC)
Tomorrow, the organisers will hold auditions to find this year’s NAMAs host. The auditions will take place at the NBC studios in Windhoek.
