MTC has donated 120 tents that can accommodate up to 240 homeless people at the Independence Arena.
The company made the donation over the Easter weekend to assist the government with its lockdown efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government has ordered people to stay at home to avoid getting ill. MTC also said it would provide those sheltering in the tents with lunch packs for the duration of the lockdown.
“After assessing the conditions of our people at these two sites, we knew we needed to do something fast to protect them from bad weather and to restore their dignity. We are all aware that we have so many Namibians without homes,” said MTC executive Tim Ekandjo.
