Movie-making debut for Nicole

Windhoek Gordon Joseph Nicole Louw oozes peace and tranquillity. Although she was born in South Africa, she has lived most of her life in the Land of the Brave. The 29-year-old brunette says she started drawing before she could even write. When eventually went to write and has published six books so far. However, she has now started a new love affair. Nicole last year started working on her first film called Lightbulb last year. Without giving too much away, Lightbulb is a gripping story about the end of civilisation. It portrays an overpopulated world, plagued by a hunger crisis, in which people struggle to survive. It follows the story of three people who cannot deal with the daily struggle to survive and who run away. Nicole tells us that hopefully the film will be released in September this year. She is also acts in the movie, something she says happened by accident. Nicole's first love however remains her writing. It was in the year 2000 that she warmed up to the idea of publishing a book after she has been writing for years. She sadly lost the manuscript. A decade later she found it again on a floppy disk and although she was happy that she had found it, Nicole was pleased that she never published it. She realised in retrospect that the book lacked research and needed a lot more work. Nicole continued to rewrite the book until the end of 2010, as she promised herself she would. She wrote till exactly 23:59 on the December 31, 2010. The book called Havens of Pompeii was published in 2011. “I probably heard 'no' from a 100 publishers, and for many publishers it's a gamble to publish an unknown author,” she says. But she persisted and never gave up. Havens of Pompeii is a book about the struggles of a Christian slave and a free Roman to keep their love alive. Nicole has been fascinated by the Roman Empire and the destruction of Vesuvius since her childhood. She has also started a survival school for children and adults called Earth Rhythms. She trains children and adults how to be completely at nature's mercy and about the importance of respect for the environment.
