Preparations for the inaugural Jeremiah Nakathila Annual Tournament gained momentum after the boxer secured medals for the event.
Simeon Hilukilwa of Judo Investment honoured his promise of helping Jeremiah Nakathila out with medals acquired from OTB Sport.
Nakathila lauded Hilukilwa for coming on board to make sure that everything goes according to plan.
Thankful
“I am proud to say that preparations for the tournament are now well and at an advanced stage after my leader Simeon Hilukilwa came on board with the medals.
“This is something to be grateful for because someone is going out of their way to help football grow.
“Omusati Region must be ready because the tournament is going to change the dreams of many youngsters in that area,” Nakathila said.
Nakathila, who came up with the idea to host such a tournament, added that there is a need for young players to get exposed in rural areas.
He is confident that taking football to the people will unearth talented players.
“There are many young footballers out there who needs the opportunity to showcase their talent, but they hardly get that opportunity.
“This will however mean so much for the players because they now have a chance to showcase their skills.”
Giving back
Hilukilwa who is sponsoring the tournament alongside Nakathila said he felt it is his responsibility to make sure that he gives back to the community.
“I am a proud to be involved in something this remarkable and it was really not difficult to be convinced to come on board.
“It is important that as business people, we give back to the community,” Hilukilwa noted.
The winners of the tournament will walk away with N$5 000, a floating trophy and 18 gold medals.
The draw of the tournament will be done on 13 December at the Onesi soccer field.
