Namibia and Golden Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva hopes that the national team can pull off one of their greatest performances against Zambia.
The team has a date with Zambia in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations group qualifying match, with a victory guaranteeing them a place in this year's tournament in Egypt.
Mbaeva has not been the first-choice keeper for the Brave Warriors but still has been called up for training.
“Yes, every player will want to be part of that match, but the coach has the final say as to who can qualify.
“Being the first choice for that match is the least of my worries right now because we all just want to see the team go through.
“It is going to be a difficult match but I believe that we have players with a wealth of experience who are capable of helping us qualify,” Mbaeva said.
Namibia will battle it out against Zambia on Saturday and a win can secure the team a place in the Egypt finals.
The local players have been in camp for over two weeks now and the foreign-based players were expected to join the rest on Sunday.
“Well, I hope that everyone the coach selects in that match will be up for the challenge.
“We all want to see the nation prosper in such an important encounter.
“I am ready to play the game of my life if I am given the chance to play in that match against Zambia,” Mbaeva added.
Guinea Bissau and Namibia are at the top of Group K on eight points each, with Mozambique in third place on seven points. Zambia, on four points, are out of the race to Egypt 2019. The group winners and the runners-up will qualify for the 32nd edition of the Total African Cup of Nations, to be played in Egypt from 21 June to 19 July 2019.
The 28-man squad: Virgil Vries, Maximillian Mbaeva, Loydt Kazapua, Edward Maova, Petrus Shitembi, Tiberius Lombard, Ananias Gebhardt, Willy Stephanus, Denzil Hoaseb, Peter Shalulile, Marcel Papama, Riaan Hanamub, Dynamo Fredericks, Emilio Martin, Ronald Ketjijere, Benson Shilongo, Ivan Kamberipa, Edmund Kambanda, Muna Katupose, Sadney Urikhob, Joslin Kamatuka, Vitapi Ngaruka, Charles Hambira, Treasure Kauapirura, Itamunua Keimuine, Immanuel Heita, Absalom Iimbondi and Deon Hotto.
