Mannetti 'will not coach'
Ricardo Mannetti is alleged to have attracted clubs outside Namibia.
Former Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti has insisted he will not coach Zambian Premier League side Lusaka Dynamos.
Mannetti was recently spotted in Lusaka at a match involving the club.
His presence at the match led to thunders of speculation in football circles that the former national football team gaffer is on the verge of joining the Zambian outfit as head coach.
In an interview yesterday, Mannetti admitted that he was in Zambia, but not for a coaching post as speculated.
“Let me say it straight up that I am not going to coach Lusaka Dynamos as speculated through social media and other platforms,” Mannetti said.
The coach however hinted at developments regarding his career.
“At the moment, I am busy with a few things and I can guarantee you that the public will be the first to know when there are any new developments,” Mannetti said.
Mannetti has been without a coaching job since the Fifa normalisation committee refused to extend his contract, which ended on 31 July 2019.
His last matches in charge of the Brave Warriors were at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals in Egypt.
Mannetti's men bowed out of Afcon following three successive defeats against African football powerhouses.
The team suffered two unlucky defeats to Morocco and South Africa in their first two group matches before receiving a 4-1 hammering at the hands of Ivory Coast in their final group match. They finished at the bottom of Group D with no points, while scoring only one goal in their three matches.
“It is very important that these rumours spreading do not confuse the public.
“I also do not want people to think that I am completely done with coaching,” Mannetti added.
He was appointed as national coach in June 2013, replacing Swedish national Rodger Palmgren.
Two years later, Mannetti became the first national team coach to lift the Cosafa Cup in South Africa, after his team defeated Mozambique 2-0 in the final.
In 2016, he led his nation to the Cosafa Cup plate final, which the Warriors won.
He also helped the nation to qualify for the 2018 African Nations Championship (Chan) and Afcon 2019.
