Man shoots ex, himself
Another murder-suicide occurred over the long weekend, in which a man shot his ex-girlfriend and then himself.
According to the police, 48-year-old Keib Diedrich shot Monalisa Uibaqub Xoagus (27) with a 9mm pistol in Cater Street, Dorado Park at about 21:00 on Monday. He then shot himself.
The police said the couple had been in a relationship for five years, but Xoagus decided to end the romance, which may have led to the fatal shootings. In another incident at Otjomuise, the semi-naked and bloodied body of a 32-year-old man was discovered next to the road on Sunday.
According to the police, a passer-by saw a taxi parked under a tree in the riverbed and upon closer inspection saw the body lying a few metres away, covered in blood. The police were alerted and it is suspected that the taxi driver, Isaak Shimbwale Shilinge, was stoned or stabbed to death. No arrest has been made yet and investigations continue.
In another incident on Monday at the Havana informal settlement a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by 31-year-old suspect after they quarrelled over money. It is alleged that the suspect fatally stabbed Henock Tangeniomwene Naitembu with a knife in the back and chest.
The suspect has been arrested. At Noordoewer, a 13-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by a 20-year-old man, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the police, the incident occurred between 03:00 and 04:00. It is alleged that the man entered the girl's room and raped her.
He has been arrested.
In a separate incident at Eenhana, a 19-year-old pregnant girl was raped, allegedly by a 40-year-old man, on Saturday.
According to the police, the incident occurred at the Dollar Life Bar Eenyika cuca shop at Eenyika village. The man entered girl's room where she was sleeping and allegedly raped her. The known suspect fled and investigations continue.
Meanwhile, at Mondesa in Swakopmund a 20-month-old baby died after being hit by a taxi.
According to the police, the accident happened on Sunday at about 19:00 in Masilo Street.
The 25-year-old taxi driver was allegedly under the influence and the child died instantly while crossing the road near his house. The taxi driver has been arrested.
In another incident on Saturday at about 12:50, seven people were involved in an accident on the Ondobe/Oshigambo gravel road at Onailonga village. A three-month-old baby died. According to the police, the driver of a Toyota Rav4 allegedly lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. The baby died on the way to hospital and six other passengers sustained serious to slight injuries.
In another incident, a 39-year-old woman died when two vehicles collided on Saturday at Aussenkehr.
According to the police, the accident occurred when a Kia Picanto attempted to overtake another vehicle. A passenger in the Kia, Maria Ndiyaamena, died upon arrival at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, in Walvis Bay a 49-year-old man died in an accident and nine others were injured on the C-14 gravel road between Walvis Bay and Nabasib on Monday.
The police said a Nissan pick-up, pulling a trailer to a farm, was carrying ten occupants, including the driver.
