Police in the Omusati region had to hunt down a suspect who allegedly killed a 39-year-old man over a jar of traditional brew at Nakiinyangele cuca-shop in Okagongo village, Ogongo constituency.
Omusati police commissioner Titus Shikongo said it is alleged that on Tuesday at around 23:00, the suspect and Titus Wilhelm Amwele started arguing over a jar of traditional brew (epwaka) at the cuca- shop.
Shikongo said Amwele reportedly stood up and walked toward the suspect, prompting the suspect to draw a knife and stab Amwele once in the chest.
“As a result, the deceased fell to the ground and died at the scene. Next of kin have been informed and the body has been transported to Okahao police mortuary for post-mortem,” he said.
Shikongo said a 28-year-old Angolan who is employed as a domestic worker at the same village but hails originally from Oshivemba village in Angola has been arrested in connection with the murder.
He was due to appear before the Okahao Magistrate's Court yesterday, he said.
