Maletzky crowned Miss High School
The world is moving into a virtual space and the 2020 Miss High School competition has made it possible for teen beauty queens to showcase their talents.

Namibia Media Holdings, under its youth banner My Zone, hosted Namibia’s first virtual pageant, Miss High School, on Tuesday evening.
Schools such as Otjiwarongo Secondary School, Jan Mohr Secondary School, Windhoek High School and Centaurus High School were represented.
Contestants competed in evening gowns, runway interviews and casual wear, all from the safety of their own homes. Using video submissions as well as vMix calls, the Miss High School competition stepped into uncharted territory for the pageant world by hosting a virtual event.
An ecstatic Nasheeta Maletzky took home the coveted title of Miss High School, which comes with N$10 000 sponsorship towards her tertiary education.
Maletzky did not only walk away with the title of Miss High but also scooped the titles Miss Social Media as well as Miss Community, with a voucher of N$500 for each title.
Danielle Carew was the first runner-up while Beanca le Roux won the titles Miss Personality and Miss Creative, with vouchers of N$500 each.
All four contestants walked away with an accommodation voucher valued at N$1 000 to the 2020 Namibia Tourism Expo (NTE), which will take place from 4 to 7 November at the SKW sports grounds in Windhoek.
Maletzky, who hails from Otjiwarongo, said she was honoured to be crowned Miss High School 2020.
“I really did put in some effort with my videos. They say hard work pays off, right?” she said.
She added that her journey has been exciting yet scary and due to the current pandemic it seemed impossible at the beginning.
“I just want to say thank you to my friends, family and community at large for the love you have shown me during this journey,” she said.
Maletzky runs a charity project called Action Against Poverty, which has identified a great need for providing meals to her community.
She added that the current slump in the economy was taking a toll on the poor, leaving many unemployed and unable to provide for themselves and their families.
“My project is based on the Harambee Prosperity Plan implemented by President Hage Geingob and one of the Millennium Development Goals set by the United Nations, which calls for the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger,” she said.
Natalie van Wyk, one of the organisers, said it was challenging to bring everything to life but her dream team made it all work.
