Letuvene Hendjala recently started in the sales department at MultiChoice Namibia as a telesales marketer. Telesales is a new service from MultiChoice Namibia that offers clients the opportunity to join the world of entertainment without leaving their homes through MultiChoice’s SMS line (081 988 000), by email (Telesales@na.multichoice.com) or through the DStv website. MultiChoice Namibia then addresses any issues and directs clients to relevant service providers who can assist in a quick and efficient manner.“We will be doing this with customers over the phone, especially while they’re in the comfort of their homes. I’m still learning a lot about it,” Hendjala explains.She mentions that her recent biggest accomplishment was being Employee of the Month, which she says boosted her work morale and motivated her to do better. However, it didn’t come easily.“The biggest challenge in my career was probably my second to fourth year in university. Those were my partying days and I didn’t have direction in life,” she says.A typical day for her would be to go to the office, greet everyone, and sometimes record a video of her colleagues before her shift starts. “I don’t drink coffee, so you will never find me drinking that,” she says with a giggle. When asked by Careers what inspires her, she mentions her mom. “Having raised two girls alone and making sure that we have more than what we needed also inspires me so much. I would also say that working and studying hard is motivation. As they say… ‘give her the world’.”The advice she would give to young people out there is not to be a part of groups or cliques. She adds that you are strongest on your own (unless it is about teamwork or group assignments). “Never let anyone make decisions on your behalf because that’s where you will realise your greatest potential and strength.”Her plans include improving her academics by reaching for a PhD. “I would still love to work at MultiChoice Namibia after getting my degrees, as I love the working environment. I also love the new things we get to see and learn every day,” she says.Hendjala’s best phase in life was her mental growth, which she says she experienced in the last two years. “I found peace with a lot of things I have been struggling with for years,” she adds. If she had an opportunity to change anything in the world, she would make sure every child grows up in a loving home, “because children are our future”.
