Maerua Mall officially re-opened
Oryx Properties on Wednesday celebrated the completion of phase three of its major renovation process at Windhoek’s Maerua Mall.
The renovated mall was officially opened by President Hifikepunye Pohamba, who commended the zero accident record during the lengthy construction phase.
Pohamba noted that the phase three renovations cost approximately N$360 million, and now sees the mall house 148 shops and 2 230 parking bays.
Back in 2006, the phase two expansion project had left it with 650 parking bays.
Pohamba also credited what he said was a N$17 million worth of investments to upgrade Windhoek roads during the construction phase, and pledged government investment in infrastructure such as road, rail, telephony and electronics, to complement the private sector’s efforts at developing the nation.
“The expansion of Maerua Mall is a welcome development to our growing capital city where the demand for modern services is ever increasing,†Pohamba said in his keynote speech.
“This development has indeed expanded the number of services and modern conveniences that are now available to the residents of Windhoek and visitors
alike.â€
