Let’s love each other
I have a bone to pick with the Orlando tragedy. So we have reached the point as human beings where we are so confused and the only way to lessen the confusion is to be violent. Uhm... I mean I understand that the man was having an identity crisis but does his end of killing 50 innocent people justify the means? And also why are there so many people who only realised now that the LGBT community are also humans - after the shooting - because before this there was so much discrimination, shaming and suddenly everyone is chanting Michael Jackson’s We are the world, we are the children. Like why are we so fake? What are we trying to prove?
I am going to trace this back to our homes. It is the 21st century for Pete’s sake. It’s about time we accept that people will be born differently and as bad as that may sound, it is the now we are living in. I believe this man couldn’t be free to talk about what he was going through because nobody understood him or was there for him and that’s why he got frustrated. We need to come to terms with the existence such people because they are our children at the end of the day.
For a person that wants to come out but doesn’t know who to talk to at home, there are places you can turn to, to help you through the whole process. It won’t take a day or two for you to understand what is going on so with the help of these programmes, the transformation won’t be so traumatising to you anymore.
I know that the tragedy happened far from home but it still closely affects us because the people of this community are also threatened and not accepted by society. So are we also going to start killing them as a solution to the zero tolerance walls that the majority of our leaders also put up? I say enough is enough and it is about time we leave all this hatred behind and find something else to be unhappy about.
I would really love for movie directors, actors and musicians to be at the forefront of this because they are the ones whose utterances are heard and listened to by the majority, and all over the world too. I say the ball is in your court to really play this right. Let’s spread this like a wild fire and like Michael Jackson we didn’t make ourselves, God did and he gave us whatever talent we have. Use it wisely. I will preach the same gospel. Let love lead.
