Kukuri selected for international film festival

While preparing for the premiere of its latest film Kapana, the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) - a Namibian Trust aimed at creating social awareness through the arts - received news that its film, Kukuri, has been selected for the Garden Route International Film Festival 2020 (GRIFF) in South Africa.

Earlier this year, Kukuri was nominated for best film southern Africa at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.

GRIFF is an independent international film festival offering quality films across a number of genres and offering pure entertainment for filmgoers.

It is a permanent feature on the Knysna events calendar for visiting professionals, amateurs, local, national and international film enthusiasts and makers.

Virtual component

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival has been converted into two parts: An online virtual festival, which will take place from 21 September to 11 October, and physical screenings in towns along the Garden Route as drive-in cinemas to adhere to social distancing measures.

The festival still aims to allow networking, events and activities to maximise selected films' exposure on a virtual platform.
