Keimuine hamstring recovers
Itamunua Keimuine could be an option for the Brave Warriors following his recovery from injury.
Namibian international and Dire Dawa City striker Itamunua Keimuine has fully recovered from a hamstring injury he had picked up while playing in the Ethiopian League.
The player has undergone physical therapy and has been on the sidelines for a month.
The striker confirmed in a telephonic interview that he has overcome his troubling hamstring injury and is raring to play again.
“I have fully recovered from the injury which has kept me out for a while. I can also say that I am ready and fit to help my club in the league and possibly help the nation ahead of our big match against Zambia.
“Hamstring injuries are very tricky and that is why I kept myself on the sidelines even if I started feeling better already.
“This was actually something I did to give myself time and to regain full fitness,” Keimuine said.
Keimuine's Dawa City returns to action in the Ethiopian Premier League for the second round this coming weekend.
“I will hopefully be in action for my club this coming weekend because it is also the time when the second round begins.
“All I want to do now is work harder and score more goals to help the team prosper.”
The former Tura Magic striker joined the Ethiopian outfit on 30 September 2018.
The Ethiopian team has been struggling to escape from the bottom half of the table and are in dire need of the Namibian striker's scoring prowess.
Keimuine made his debut for the Brave Warriors on 10 September 2014 against Swaziland and was part of the squad that won the 2015 edition of the Cosafa Cup in South Africa.
He has over 20 caps for Namibia and has scored three goals for the national team.
Dire Dawa City were founded in 2003 with the hope of restoring the city's historic place in Ethiopian football.
The following year (2004/05), the club played in a regional league which was then considered the third tier of Ethiopian football.
In 2005/06 the club entered the second tier of Ethiopian football, then called the Ethiopian National League (now called the Ethiopian Higher League).
The club entered the Ethiopian Premier League for the first time in the 2007/08 season.
The player's return could also serve as a striking option for Riccardo Mannetti, who faces a tough task against Zambia later this month.JESSE JACKSON KAURAISA
