Despite 2020 being a year of mishaps for many, Taap The Guy shares that this has been one of his most successful years yet.
In an interview with tjil, the funny man mentioned that unlike other comedians, he doesn’t write his jokes months in advance, adding that his creative juices start flowing last minute.
“For the Namibia Tourism Expo - Experience Africa, 10º South, you can expect jokes about how crazy 2020 has been, how lockdown was for me, relationships, some government jokes and other random stuff as I'm an observational comedian.”
Creating content
On the tourism and entertainment industries coming together, Taap revealed that as FreeYourMind has expanded into a production company, comedians, actors, scriptwriters and directors can help the tourism industry from a marketing perspective.
“We can now create content that promotes Namibia's beautiful attractions and work closely with the tourism sector,” he said.
Having been a part of the Namibia Tourism Expo for the past three years as the host of the ‘Money or the Box’ game show, this will be the comedian’s first set at the event. He said he is excited and happy to be involved.
Collaboration
His stand-out work this year has been the Smart Cut comedy sitcom he wrote, directed and starred in alongside King Tee Dee. The project is in partnership with the health ministry.
“All seasons of the show can be seen on NBC and One Africa TV, but will be on YouTube soon,” Taap said.
Meanwhile, the comedian exclusively revealed that he is also working on Namibia's first superhero, Pangaman, which will feature in a movie, series and comic book called The Adventures of Pangaman.
