Keeping it real
Artist management is a term that has been used loosely in the Namibian entertainment space. There are musicians who need managers and there are others who simply don’t.
But in today’s piece, I want to speak out against music promoters who want to take advantage and manage every trending artist who comes out.
It’s OK to just be a fan sometimes. You could be a fan of an artist and be playing their music at home all day and not have the slightest desire to be that artist’s manager or sign them. Sometimes you have to know when a project isn’t for you and just be happy for whoever it is for.
So many promising music careers have been destroyed by managers or labels who take artists under their wing and promise them deals that never come to fruition.
