KBF board gets new members

Jesse Jackson Kauraisa WINDHOEK The Khomas Boxing Federation (KBF) elected new members following an Annual General Meeting a fortnight ago. While Jason Naule remained as chairman of the federation, the meeting endorsed the decision to elect manager Zesora Tjipe as the public relations officer. Tjipe has been acting in the place of John Amakali, who parted ways with the federation. Joel Mungungu was elected as the vice-chairperson of the board, replacing Adriaan Coetzee. Ngendinomuwa Andima kept her position as the secretary-general, while Musolo Mwila became the new treasurer, replacing Tjimuine Kaura. Happy with outcome “We are really happy that we concluded this process and we can now look ahead to bigger things. “All those who will be serving on the board are experienced personnel who will take boxing development to another level in the region. “The most important thing at the moment is to make sure that we focus more on development and also securing funding for the sport,” Tjipe said. Signs of success Earlier this year, KBF noted an increase in the number of boxing clubs in the region, a sign that the sport code is growing. The federation has now registered two additional members, bringing the number of clubs in the region to 14. Bright Warriors Boxing Club and Power-Power Boxing Academy were the latest additions. Many boxers who made their professional debut in 2019 are believed to have come from a development programme by the KBF. “The signs are there that we are actually doing a good job and we just need to improve on that. “It is important that we get sponsors on board because it is very difficult to run an organisation without any funding,” Tjipe added.
