Kapuka Tournament delivers plenty of winners

The Namib Mills Kapuka Tournament continued to prove its popularity when various teams emerged victorious in their respective categories over the weekend. The boys from Mwadikange Kaulinge Secondary School in the Ohangwena Region are the champions of the Namib Mills Kapuka Tournament, which ended at the Ponhofi Senior Secondary School on Sunday. They handed their counterparts from Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Senior Secondary School (SSS) in the Oshana Region a 1-0 defeat during the schools’ category’s final football match on Sunday. Otavi Regiment Engineering from the Otjozondjupa Region won the veteran clubs’ football category after beating the defending champions, Tsumeb Masters, 3-2 on penalties. The two clubs played to a nil-nil draw during their final encounter. In the final match of the schools’ netball category, also played on Sunday, the girls from Haudano SSS in the Omusati Region emerged victorious. They defeated their counterparts from Gabriel Taapopi SSS from Ongwediva in the Oshana Region by 18-11, while the Medipark Private Hospital won the clubs’ netball category by defeating Ondangwa-based Hotshot Club by 15-11. Other category winners were the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) 21 Brigade (women’s football); Oshikoto Region-based Uukule SSS (schools’ volleyball) and Khomas Region-based NDF Headquarters (clubs’ volleyball). The tournament sponsored by Namib Mills also witnessed the crowning of the 18-year-old Albertina Ndjubila from Mwadikange Kaulinge Secondary School as Miss Namib Mills Kapuka Tournament.
