I have said this time and again that an artist or celebrity cannot manage themselves, whether it be PR, client bookings or arranging for interviews or work-related stuff, this is so unprofessional. Experience in the PR and entertainment industry taught me that the best way to grow your brand fast, is through a management team. Management teams consist of a publicist, manager and a booking agent mostly, but if you can’t afford all of them then you need a manager that is good at multi-tasking. Your manager should be able to wear a PR Hat, Manager Hat or Agent Hat to make sure you maximise on all opportunities.
I have worked with various artists and celebrities whose lives I have made so easy, because I personally dealt with their schedules and lives. Nothing was approved or discussed without me knowing about it. Let me share the experience I have picked up in the SA and the Namibian industry. Get a competent Manager who can make your life easy and who can also dedicate themselves to grow your brand. Compete against yourself as you are only better than what you did last, stop comparing yourself with other artists. Invest and believe in your brand.
