Lazarus Kaimbi is back at Bangkok Glass and is looking forward to get back to competitive football.
The pacey striker confirmed that he agreed to a deal which will keep him at Bangkok Glass for the next two years.
According to the club’s website, Kaimbi is their first signing for next season. ‘The Rabbits’ finished sixth in the recently concluded league campaign and are hoping the return of Kaimbi can inspire his teammates to challenge for a better finish next season.
Fondly, named Lazza, the 27-year-old striker first joined Bangkok Glass in the second leg of the 2013 season and played a key role in the club’s run to Thaicom FA Cup triumph in 2014, which helped them qualify for the AFC Champions League for the first time.
Kaimbi made 61 appearances in his first spell with Bangkok Glass, scoring 27 goals.
The club terminated his contract in July this year when he only had six months left to the expiration of his contract.
Initially, it was widely understood that the split had to do with an incident which resulted in him being banned for four
matches.
In that incident, Kaimbi is said to have hit an opposing player who allegedly called him derogatory names.
The former Ramblers and Jomo Cosmos (South Africa) striker was slapped with a four-match suspension and a N$14 400 fine after punching an opponent on July 17, 2015.
Kaimbi has, however, explained that his departure from the club had nothing to do with the incident of July 17.
He said the punishment by the Thai Premier League should not be seen as the cause of his release by the club.
With only six months to his contract left, Kaimbi and his agent entered into negotiations for an extension of his contract.
The two parties could, however, not agree terms and therefore mutually agreed to part ways.
To show that there was no bad blood between the club and the player, Bangkok Glass paid Kaimbi for the remaining five months of his contract while allowing him to find another club.
Kaimbi has received offers from clubs in Australia, Dubai, Portugal, Japan and Malaysia but Bangkok Glass has had a change of heart and offered him a better deal, leading to the two-year contract which runs out at the end of 2017.
The Thai Premier League season runs from January to December.
