Jossy Joss pays tribute to Catt

No one could excite like Catty Catt. He always seemed to make one laugh, even when you felt like you should be angry. He would pop in at my office with no appointment, and then wait while speaking to everyone at the top of voice. We started being family back in 2004, when I was busy recording my album and he was doing a few songs with Kanibal. Catt had a song on radio at the time and was a huge fan of Sackman’s Rap Attack on Energy 100fm every Fridays. He acted like he had known me for many years and showed me so much respect. A year later, while we were recording and fooling around as we always did, Kanibal said: “Let’s do a remix of My Spanish Girl. He already had an idea for the beat, and so we did the remix. It took Catt half the day to record his verse, as he felt it must be right and we shouldn’t hurry him at all. That remix is probably my best remix of a song ever. We went on a tour together in 2006. I remember in Tsumeb, Kanibal was not there, so Catt and I came up with the best intro ever. We got Jay Malgas’s BMW, with Curtis standing so he protruded through the sunroof. Jay drove while pressing his hooter at the same time, with the music playing. We rocked the show so much that Malaika were so impressed, they felt that they should up their performance. When I needed something I asked him and when he needed something he asked me. He was growing as a businessman. He woke up and realised that he has a niche above the other rappers. He wanted to grow an empire and he was not far from that at all. I have many stories to share about Catt. He was a fighter and would never give up easily, at all. WINDHOEK Jossy Joss
