Jarman promises to run circles around opponent
“I’m going to work on my footwork, dance with him, read him and then take him out.”
These were the words of Anthony Jarman, who is fighting Christian Ukelo in a 10-round welterweight bout at the Gateway Centre in Khomasdal this evening.
The two will feature in the main bout of the Kinda Promotions fight card, which includes six other fights.
Jarman added that he is no mood to finish the fight and is likely to stop Ukelo well ahead of the 10 scheduled rounds.
“Since my win [on a majority points decision] over Pohamba Mandume last year, I have stopped my other fights within the distance and I want to continue with that,” he said, predicting that the fight might end in the fourth or fifth round.
Ukelo was noncommittal about that prediction.
“I trained for 10 rounds and we will just see inside the ring,” he said at yesterday’s weigh-in.
“I was due to fight Kapena Naidjala but I took this fight as Jarman’s opponent did not come. So I’m not too concerned about what he (Jarman) says,” Ukelo stated about replacing Jeff Ontembio from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Other bouts tonight will see Medestika Alweenda fight Mpadhi Ninja in the flyweight division.
Sacky Amutjaa will face Varde Ndayambekwa in a lightweight bout and Simon Kakololo will take on Kapena Naidjala. Candy Imalwa will face Matheus Kandala while Johannes Kutumba takes on Shitilifa John and Nikoti Johannes clashes with Johannes Gabriel.
Tickets cost N$100 for general entry and N$200 for VIP seats.
