Jacob makes debut for AmaZulu
There were contrasting fortunes for Namibians plying their trade in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) over the weekend. AmaZulu’s Pineas Jakob made his first appearance for the Durban club but ended up on the losing side. Jacob, a former striker with local club Tigers, finally got his chance to play after months on the sidelines as his current employers waited for his work permit. But it was to be a miserable first outing as the Namibian lasted only 45 minutes and failed to emerge for the second half. The team lost 2-0 to University of Pretoria with none of the other Namibians signed with AmaZulu – Larry Horaeb, Willem Mwedihanga and Sadney Urikhob - making an appearance. As it turned out the result was good news for another Namibian, Ronald Ketjijere, who played the whole match for University of Pretoria in what turned out to be his first win with the club since returning from injury. Rudolf Bester is still out with injury at Golden Arrows, who lost 2-1 to Platinum Stars, for whom Henrico Botes did not feature.
