The role of the business partner, payroll and benefits partner is to provide functional support of the human capital activities within the subsidiary. This is with emphasis on quality, productivity and goal attainment to achieve the company’s business goals.

Natalia Tyapa has been promoted at Letshego within one and half years at the Bank of Namibia. This she was able to attain because of the great traits she possesses like her values of hard work and great ethics. She also showed that she wanted to further grow with the company.

Human resources (HR) is not excluded from the company, it is very fundamental. Tyapa got a promotion and an award for the employee of the month in 2017 and the best team player of the year in 2020. Staying up late to make sure that work is complete is a reality in HR as well. Work needs to be done and deadlines have to be met.

HR offers a wide variety of opportunities. This brings varied work and challenging projects. But a strong and solid team makes it possible to tackle each challenge. Being curious and willing to learn and understand how things work or why things are as they are is another important trait in HR. Besides administering and keeping up with the overall company culture, things may even get numeric as a payroll administrator’s role. If you love mathematics, you can definitely choose to follow the payroll career.

Careers are overall never-ending. Tyapa said she wanted to ensure that she found a position and place where she can develop skills every day and contribute to society. Achieving this goal makes her feel even more successful.

Pursuing a master’s degree hasn’t always been a top priority for her, although she has always wanted to do it. In the last past two years it became so important to her, but went on hold due to Covid-19. Tyapa’s biggest dream is to get to a top managerial payroll position with more responsibilities and accountabilities in a stable company like LBN.

She has been in the HR industry for over five years, primarily working in HR administrator roles. She has acquired a highly developed set of skills, demonstrating constant interest in learning and specialising in HR-related fields.

HR personnel require good communication and listening skills and must be able to absorb new ideas and comfortably work in a fast-paced, growing, demanding work environment.

The purpose of the role is to ensure effective and efficient administration of staff recruitment, remuneration and benefits while ensuring that all contributions to third parties are made accurately, regularly and on time. Challenges of the profession include facing and coping with the strong and diverse personalities of family, friends and work colleagues, while encouraging them to be the best they can be, achieving goals and still keeping peace and not losing sight of who you are.
