Musical icon Prince, known for his contributions to pop, rock and funk, was worth a whopping US$300 million (N$4.3 billion) when he died unexpectedly on Thursday night at the age of 57.
Prince ranks at number 16 on therichest.com’s list of wealthy musicians, behind names such as Jon Bon Jovi, Keith Richards and Ringo Starr as well as Elton John.
Topping that list with a net worth of US$1.2 billion (N$17 billion) is Paul McCartney.
Prince Rogers Nelson had 20 Top 40 singles and 10 platinum albums during his career, according to bornrich.com.
The website says the greatest contributor to his earnings were his successful albums.
“His discography consists of about 35 albums, each of which was a big hit, from 1978 to 2000.
