Horse-racing events come alive

Aminuis Horse Racing Club says it is proud and happy about its event held over the weekend at Gobabis.
The event saw over 70 horses competing for top places.
Starlile from Okahandja Racing won the Import Open 2 000-metre race, followed by Burundi in second and Icon King in third.
Aminuis favourite Visigoth did not impress after starting late, making the gap hard to close, despite managing a strong finish.
The Nambred Open 2 000 m was won by Freedom Fighter from Ovitoto, with Von Trotha coming in second and Professor in third.
Gimmethelight from Kaondeka Horse Racing Club took the Open Import 1 600 m category, followed by Warrior Poet, with Rockly Beach coming in third.
Crowd made event special
“I can say that we are proud and happy with the way the event was because we did not experience anything bad like it has been happening in the horse racing fraternity lately.
“The quality of the horses was good and the crowd made this event extra special.
“I would like to thank all those who made this event possible, including the fans who came in their numbers to support their favourite horses,” organiser Ukaeta Tjiramba told Sport Wrap yesterday.
The next big horse-racing event is set to be the MTC Horse Derby, which is always the biggest event on the calendar.
