Grove Mall opens this month
The long-awaited launch of Namibia’s most ambitious retail project is drawing closer.
After having its original scheduled opening date pushed back by a month due to a metalworkers’ strike in South Africa, the developers said yesterday they were on target to meet the new October 23 deadline.
“The main contractor and subcontractors have been working around the clock to ensure that work will be complete on time for the opening, which is set to be a fun-filled day of activities for shoppers,†a statement issued by the landlords reads.
The Grove Mall of Namibia is a 55 000-square-metre development, formed as part of the Kleine Kuppe suburb’s mixed-use Hilltop estate.
Developers of the N$1 billion regional mall are Atterbury Property Holdings, Attacq, the Frontier Property Trust and Demushuwa Property Developers.
Anchor tenants include Woolworths, Game, Checkers and Spar, while Sissy Boy, Tekkie Town, Toys R Us, Edgars and Truworths are other well-established retailers currently gearing for the launch.
A main attraction touted by developers since the early days of construction is the entertainment and cinema floor, designed with outside seating areas to take advantage of the area’s view over Windhoek.
More information on activities and promotions on offer on the opening day can be obtained from the Grove Mall of Namibia’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/thegrovemallofnamibia.
The mall’s trading hours are between 09:00 and 19:00 from Monday to Saturday, and between 09:00 and 17:00 on Sundays and public holidays.
