Lady Black comes back hard
Eminem once rapped: “Guess whose back, back again?†Today we answer: “Lady Black, tell a friend.†The poet, who for many years has played hide and seek with her fans, made a welcome return at a poetry event this week. Lady Black, whose real name is Vivian Prungu, went missing in action for more than a year. On Wednesday she was not even scheduled to perform, but asked organisers for a slot. During her performance she even broke into song and seems to be undergoing some kind of spiritual awakening, which is unsurprising, given what she has been through. We hope that after travelling to many different area codes, she is now back on the Windhoek scene to stay. Lady Black’s absence was certainly felt. Sadly, upcoming poets seem to competing to show who is the most depressed among them. Let’s hope she the real queen of poetry doesn’t pull another disappearing act. And stay on the right path my sister!
Wendelinus accuses journalists of man-stealing
Former Mr Gay Namibia Wendelinus Hamutenya seems to love the media and always finds his way back into this column. Anyway, he recently decided to announce to everyone at an event that two popular TV personalities were trying to steal his fiancé. This is not the first time there has allegedly been trouble in paradise between the beauty pageant winner - turned politician - and his Batswana boyfriend. But this week Wendelinus used the opportunity to name two broadcasting journalists as the culprits. He also recently announced that he is running for a seat in Parliament on a Rally for Democracy and Progress ticket. While we don’t know if these man-stealing allegations are true, we can’t help but express our weariness with Wendelinus. The truth is that people can only be stolen when they want to be stolen.

pssst! understands that the recent announcement about changes to the NAMAs’ entry rules has left many local artists running around like headless chickens. It was announced that all recordings submitted must have been commercially released by any recognised retailer in Namibia during the period December 1 last year to November 31 this year. This announcement has apparently startled some local artists, who plan on entering and they are now desperate to launch their albums before the cut-off date. We may as well rename November ‘Album Release Month’, as there will probably be album launches for the rest of the month. Whoever told these artists to delay their album launches until this time of year gave them the wrong advice. Maybe Uncle Tim from MTC should just organise one big party where everyone can launch their albums at the same time.
Rihanna, Drake enjoy night together
Rihanna and Drake were spotted cuddling during a late evening meal, before heading back to the Bajan beauty's hotel. This was after the rapper watched the 'Pour It Up' singer perform in Dallas on Monday night. Rihanna previously dated Drake during her on-off relationship with Chris Brown, which famously resulted in a club brawl between the rapper and Chris Brown. While the duo reportedly enjoyed one night of passion together, neither Drake or Rihanna are ready to jump into a relationship just yet. The source explained: ''You've got to remember, Rihanna has done a lot of growing and Drake's a real guy so there's not really any expectations that come with what they did. They're both adults and can compartmentalise things. ‘News of their steamy date came shortly after Ellen Degeneres quizzed Drake about his love life on her talk show, during which he admitted that he will always love Rihanna. He blushed: ''Yeah great girl. We had our moment. I will always support and have love for her.''
Katy Perry is most popular Twitter user
Katy Perry became the undisputed queen of the social network recently, knocking teen idol Justin Bieber off the top spot when her followers crept up to 46.54 million, compared to Justin's 46.51 million. Katy also has the edge over the Justin Bieber on Facebook, boasting 59.26 million friends to Bieber's 57.28 million. Justin originally took the crown from Katy's chart rival Lady Gaga in January. Lady Gaga, whose current Twitter tally stands at 40.40 million, had previously held the top position for two years. According to website twittercounter.com, US President Barack Obama and country singer Taylor Swift round out the top five of the most followed people on the social media site. Katy credits her popularity online with staying positive and ignoring her haters. She previously said: ''I don't know they exist because I don't give them attention. If you tried to please everyone, you'd have no sense of self. You'd lose yourself in the process of being a people-pleaser and there'd be nothing unique left.'' The 28-year-old pop star also revealed her biggest tip is to never drink and tweet. She joked: ''When you decide to have a glass of wine, put the phone down. Don't drink and tweet.''
