Goals galore at Harders Cup
Football lovers in Lüderitz witnessed an exciting competition over the weekend.
A total of 22 goals were scored in the first four matches of the inaugural Harders Cup football tournament in Lüderitz on Saturday.
The first match saw eight goals being scored between Man United and Youngsters, with the latter emerging victorious by six goals to two in the first quarter-final match of the day played at the Lüderitz Sport Stadium.
The teams played quality attacking football regardless of the windy conditions at the bay town.
A strong crowd of almost 2 000 people was treated to great football matches, which also saw Atlanta Bucs thumping Diamond City by four goals to nil in the second quarter-final game of the day.
Novanam had to dig deep to go past Rush Ups by two goals to one in the first semi-final, where they set up a final with favourites Youngsters, who beat arch-rivals Atlanta Bucs by four goals to three in the last semi-final game of the day.
Youngsters and Atlanta Bucs are the oldest teams in Lüderitz.
Also on Sunday, Atlanta Bucs will contest the third and fourth playoff match against Rush Ups, while Seaflower Football Club face the Lüderitz Navy in a curtain raiser game.
Six teams, namely Man United, Diamond City, Atlanta Bucks, Youngsters Football Club, Rush Ups and Novanam are competing in the first-ever Harders Cup.
The finals of the competition were expected to be played late yesterday in the afternoon.
