GIPF reaches out to national festival-goers
The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) is currently on an extensive public outreach drive, being represented at two noteworthy festivals in different parts of the country this week.
Client service officials for the country’s largest pension fund are currently stationed in the Oshana Region, supporting the Ondangwa Business and Tourism Expo, while others are stationed at the //Karas Region for the 2016 Crayfish Festival, until 7 May 2016.
“These trade fairs and expos have become essential tools for the GIPF in reaching to members,” the Fund said in a statement issued to the media this week.
Considering its size, the organisation said it typically faces an assortment of challenges in keeping members informed about requirements and benefits, making such platforms crucial in fulfilling its duties.
Topics covered under the current reach-out campaign include public education on the process of claiming benefits, verification and other related services.
“Our team of dedicated client service officials will be available to assist in ascertaining claim membership status, acquisitions of biometric smart cards, and updates on retirement claims,” the GIPF statement reads.
One of the fund’s most important stipulations is that pensioners verify themselves on a quarterly basis in order to ensure uninterrupted payment of their pension income.
“We wish to emphasise that it is essential that members and beneficiaries understand the rules of the Fund, how they are applied and what their obligations are in the set-up,” the Fund said.
Following the week’s shows in Ondangwa and Luderitz, the GIPF road-show representatives move on to their next stop at the Opuwo Trade Fair, scheduled to be held between 30 May and 4 June 2016.
