Gariseb hopes to bring back spark to United

Okahandja United has appointed Richard Gariseb as caretaker coach after Woody Jacobs left the club for Unam on Wednesday last week.

Gariseb was the assistant coach at the club and stepped up with Jacobs's exit. According to Wenie Meroro, the director of operations at the club, Gariseb will be assisted by Chicken Kaengurova and Marco van Wyk.

“As you all know Jacobs was our coach until his resignation on 16 January to join Unam. We at Okahandja United want to wish him all the best in his new coaching job.

“The management is confident that the newly appointed coach and his team will bring the most needed results and take the team to a better position in the Premier League,” said Meroro.

The new coach and his technical team resumed duties on 17 January.

United is currently dwelling in the bottom three in the Namibia Premier league: a situation which Gariseb labels as 'just missing luck' for the club.

“It has been a bit difficult as about six matches were all draws. I want to bring on a new approach and to change some things. I want to make the players believe that they can pull through difficult times.

“We want to at least win one match so that we can break the ice sooner than later because we don't have bad players, it's just that luck has not been on our side,” Gariseb added.

The team is expected to face Mighty Gunners in a tough encounter next weekend.
