Foundation raises funds for cricket development
The development of Namibian cricket is expected to receive a significant boost in the near future, after the Raymond van Schoor Cricket Foundation hosted a successful fundraising dinner on Friday evening.
The Raymond van Schoor Cricket Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to assist young Namibian cricketers to fulfil their dreams and live out their passion by developing their talent as cricketers.
The foundation successfully raised N$100 000 through an auction during the dinner attended by 150 supporters on Friday evening.
This event was the foundation’s first fundraising event after its launch in February this year.
Auctioned items included the number 27 national team jerseys of the late Raymond van Schoor, as well as an autographed picture of Raymond and the Namibian National Team.
Raymond, who represented Namibia as cricketer since 2002, where he played in the U-13 national team, died last year.
In remembrance of Raymond, Zandré la Cock founded the foundation with Cricket Namibia president Richard Frankle and national player Sarel Burger as co-trustees.
The Raymond van Schoor Cricket Foundation aims to raise additional funds this year through a cricket tournament for U-11 and U-13 teams, as well as a golf day.
