For my Papa

It was during the height of your presidential campaign that I walked into a cake shop to be served by one of your supporters. She was in the middle of a heated conversation with her co-worker about why she would be voting for you, " Dr Omake" . I beamed with pride internally as she served me oblivious to the fact that I am your daughter.
This brief encounter is symbolic of my position as the daughter of a great leader. I have the opportunity to witness our president through the eyes of the nation as well as through my own eyes as your daughter. It truly is my distinct honour to call you " Honourable Papa" ! On this day, Papa I thank God for you. The nation celebrates your life today as the unifier, the great administrator, the internationalist, anti-tribalist and the humble statesman. Although, I surely echo those sentiments, I also celebrate your life as the head of our family, the greatest protector, the most generous provider, the funniest parent, the worst chef, the best debater and the most loving Dad this daughter could've asked for. I wish you continued good health and sound judgement as you continue to take on the hardest job of your life - being a father to an entire nation, my brothers and sisters included! Happy blessed 75th birthday to you Papa President! All my love.
