Footballers get shot at professional glory

Two of Namibia’s footballers will get the chance to play professionally after signing contracts with South Africa first division side Jomo Cosmos.
According to a reliable source, defenders Denzil Haoseb and Ananias Gebhardt have agreed to join Cosmos on one-year contracts with the option of being extended. The deal includes accommodation.
Haoseb, who last turned out for Black Africa, is a versatile player having featured as right back and as defensive midfielder for the Brave Warriors in recent matches.
On Saturday, he played in midfield and was unfortunate to get sent off after a reckless challenge during the Brave Warriors’ 1-0 win over Niger.
Gebhardt is an overlapping wing back, who started out playing as a supporting striker in the colours of Tigers.
But it was at Black Africa that he blossomed into a well-rounded left back.
Having played most of their careers as amateurs, rumour has it that the two footballers will now earn in the range of N$20 000 per month after tax.
