FNB Classic Clashes again rise to the challenge

FNB Namibia expressed happiness with the recently ended Classic Clashes, which the bank sponsors.
According to FNB executive Gordon Pokolo the bank experienced a number of highlights and learned some lessons this year.
“We are pleased with the new supporting sponsor Vigo, as the children identified well with the brand and the difference was noticeable,” he said.
“Many more schools have shown an interest and would like to participate in future, especially schools outside of Windhoek. To us that is great and encouraging news and we will try our utmost to grow this great sport event,” he continued.
Pokolo added that this year the crowds were also bigger and the majority of schools were well prepared for their matches.
“Seeing schools win their clashes for the first time, or the first time in a while, was a definite highlight for me and here I would like to mention the game between Eldorado against St Joseph’s where St Joseph’s won the opening netball match against their rivals. Another riveting game that comes to mind is the rugby game between MK Gertze and Dr Lemmer, which always produces great play and players.”
The FNB Classic Clashes kicked off on 3 June in Windhoek and ended, after 20 netball, rugby and football games, at Okatana on 30 July.
