A total of 293 bikers from Namibia and South Africa participated in the 19th edition of the Fish Eagle Rally hosted in Walvis Bay this past weekend.
The motorcycle clubs from South Africa that participated in this year's three-day rally included CMA, Divide and Conquer, Nyalas, Raptors, Hygna and Immortal Sisterhood.
Namibian motorcycle clubs included hosts Playboys MCC, HOGs, Live to Ride, Northern Vikings, Shutz Troppe, Ulysses Namibia, Copper Bullets, One Percenter, Coded, Pirates, Desert Mustangs and Wild Bulls.
The festivities kicked off with a special ceremony on Friday night, where bikers paid tribute to those who have passed away on the roads over the years.
Lollo de Klerk was crowned Miss Fish Eagle on the same night, while Penny Burger was the first princess and Amanda Kotze the second princess.
Saturday morning kicked off with a mass ride through Swakopmund.
Bikers later pushed their bikes to the limit on the drag strip in Walvis Bay.
Johan Oosthuizen was crowned the C-Class champion (600cc to 999cc), with a time of 7.15 seconds.
In the D-class (1000cc and up) category, McAllen Husselmann pocketed the win with a time of 6.95 seconds.
In the E-class (hot and open), Johny Voigts walked away as the winner with a time of 5.94 seconds, while Zirk Jansen came first in the F-class (cruiser) with a time of 7.66 seconds.
Amanda Kotze pocketed the win for the G-class (lady drags) category, with a time of 9.03 seconds.
Ricci Profitt, vice-president of the Playboys motorcycle club, said the drag strip was shortened due to the fact that the rally couldn't make use of the usual road - Union Street.
“Nevertheless the bikers tested their skills and the brilliant times show the effort of the riders.”
To keep the party going, a variety of biker games were played that included the fastest beer drinker, water balloon toss, burnouts and donuts competitions.
The rally finally concluded with a church service on Sunday.
