'Entrepreneurship needs radical support'
The idea behind the conference is to seek to train entrepreneurs to be dynamic and vigorous in terms of building their businesses.
There is a need for radical support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in order for sustainable economic growth to be attained.
These were the remarks made by Morgan Mwinga, the event director of the annual MSME Conference held in the capital on Wednesday.
Speaking at the conference, co-organised by the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung, Mwinga, who is also the managing director at the Academy of Business English, said investors and stakeholders should also explore non-monetary ways of support for MSME.
“Of course cash is always welcome but when we speak of support, we are speaking of the kind of support that goes either through supply chain or through backward and forward logistics or through contracts,” she said.
The event was divided into an exhibition centre and moderated business presentations by entrepreneurs in the categories of education and training, information and technology, goods and services, manufacturing, arts and crafts as well as beauty and fashion.
“The whole idea behind this event is to seek to train entrepreneurs to be dynamic and vigorous in terms of building their businesses so that they can grow them from being informal to formalities, Mwinga said.
Mwinga added that in 2017, the security company Net Vision Security delivered a presentation at the conference and towards the end of the talk, the company went on to sign a contract where it would guard over N$1 million worth of assets for Dinapama Manufacturing and Supplies. - Nampa
