End of Swallows road for Vries?
KICKOFF
Namibian goalkeeper Virgil Vries's future at DStv Premiership side Swallows FC is set to be decided following the opening of the January transfer window.
Vries looks set to be the next player to depart the Dube Birds during the current transfer window.
KickOff understands the 32-year-old will likely follow veteran defender Vuyo Mere out the exit door as head coach Dylan Kerr aims to trim his first-team squad.
Young goalkeeper Jody February has been the preferred option in goal this season which has resulted in Vries seeing limited game time.
"Virgil Vries is on his way out," a source close to the club reveals to KickOff.
"More than other issues the club is trying to keep a manageable squad as some of the players have not yet made an appearance for the club this season.
"You must also remember there is tough competition for the number 1 jersey with Thela Ngobeni and Jody February fighting for the same position."
Swallows currently occupy 14th position in the league standings with just 14 points from 18 matches.
