Do not forget the downtrodden

Frantz Fanon remains relevant today, even after years spent in the ancestry. So prophetic was Fanon that he predicted that the post-colonial project will be an empty shell devouring the hopes of the natives. In the Democratic Republic of Congo for example, a Belgian general had made it clear what the post-independence order would entail: “After Independence Equals Before independence”. Had our leaders listened to the voices of reason, by now things would have been different. African countries such as Namibia are officially ranked as the worst in terms of poverty and inequality. Now and then, we hear politicians presenting a picture as if all is well. The poor, unfortunately, do not have the luxury and opportunity to rule and make policies. It is, therefore, the responsibility of those with revolutionary consciousness and a deep sense of justice to speak up for and on behalf of the poor.
