Desert Storm promises fireworks
The current WBA Pan African featherweight champion, Sakaria ‘Desert Storm’ Lukas has vowed that he will be the first one to give Ugandan Edward Kakembo a defeat.
These two pugilists will be fighting for the WBO Interim Africa Featherweight title on the undercard of Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda’s 11 June bout against Mexico’s Moises Flores at Ramatex Hall in Windhoek.
The fight is expected to be tough for Lukas as he faces the Ugandan, who has won all his ten fights with three coming by way of technical knockouts.
This is also considered a step-up for Lukas, who has also won all of his 16 fights; 11 of them by technical knockouts.
Namibian Sun visited the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy and found Lukas busy in the gym with his trainer and promoter, Nestor Tobias.
“My preparation is going well so far… but there is no doubt, it will be the same like other fights,” said Lukas, who added that he has beaten undefeated boxers before.
He went on to say that he is shrewd in the ring as he knows what to do and what not to do during the fight so that he can win it.
“My opponent may have beaten other boxers, but he has never been here in Namibia.
“People must come witness the two warriors who never lost facing each other,” Lukas said.
The fighter is hoping to continue where he left off after knocking out compatriot Nathaniel Kamati to win WBA Pan African featherweight title during his last fight in December last year.
Kakembo holds the African Boxing Union featherweight title after he defeated Waidi Usman from Nigeria last year in December.
Lukas’s promoter, Nestor Tobias said that it will be a step forward for his fighter as it will give him the chance to get to a high ranking level in the featherweight
division.
“If he wins, this is the chance of chasing the world title,” said Tobias.
The promoter went on to say that their boxers are in good shape and they are ready to rumble on 11 June.
The bout is expected to be one of the largest ever held in Namibia as Ambunda holds the IBO super bantamweight world title while Flores is world champion in the WBA super bantamweight category.
General tickets for event will cost N$100, VIP for N$500 and VIP tables sell for N$20 000 for ten people seating.
All tickets are available at Computicket outlets countrywide.
